Last week was a big week! The notebooks arrived on Friday and filled up my garage. Me, and a few of my close friends, went to work. In about 30 hours we packaged up 5000 notebooks, into more than 2800 packages, and made 6 trips to the post office (the USPS truck made two trips too). It was quite the under taking.
In the process I learned a lot about shipping, a lot about packaging, but most of all I felt a great sense of accomplishment shipping my notebooks in January and delivering on my Kickstarter promise (I said rewards would ship January 2015 and they did!).
Next time I do a Kickstarter though, I am going to do it differently. I am going to charge enough to cover shipping costs (I ended up “subsidizing” International shipping in a big way). I am not going to start printing the notebooks until *after* the Kickstarter closes (which would have definitely allowed me to sell more notebooks, and I wouldn’t have had to put so much of my own money down up front).
At some point I am going to have to write this all down. If you have questions about Kickstarter shipping though, I would be happy to answer them – just leave them in the comments below.
Oh and the good news – there are a handful of extra Kickstarter notebooks! I just put them for sale here. They are pretty limited though, so get them while you can!
